Rom-Comster

Rom-Comster
Romantic comedies in which the female protagonist must overcome her failings before clinching Mr. Right.

Reviewing “Confessions of a Shopaholic,” for Metro International, P.J. Hogan wrote:

New York magazine’s Emma Rosenblum correctly identified [the movie] as the latest in a horrifying series of post-“Sex and the City” romantic comedies that portray women as monsters who must be transformed before they can be loved.
Hogan noted, parenthetically:
Somehow, Rossenblum’s rant neglected to fulfill the principal purpose of any magazine piece: to create a Zeitgeisty buzzword for the identified trend. May we suggest “rom-comster”?
The formula is: ROM(antic)+COM(edies)+(mon)STER.
